Tweet of the Week!

(The "week" in question being "the week of May 26," as that is when this was actually tweeted.  But whatevs.  This thing's still getting the re-tweet action all this time later.)

The love connection between Jake Gyllenhaal and miniature Iranian laughingstock Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a long one, fraught with rugged beards and choruses sung by Adam Levine.  In case you haven't seen it (or even if you just haven't seen it in a while), let us now enjoy this astoundingly popular SNL digital short from 2007 in which Andy Samberg sings a love song and Jake shows up to the delight of audience members everywhere:

And while we're on the subject of our darling Prince of Persia, it's now only a little more than two weeks until Dastan shows up in a living room near you!  The DVD and Blu-Ray are out September 14, but if you're too cheap to buy a copy, you could always consider winning one (or two).

The TMR Zoo and The HDR Room are both giving away copies, so if you're into getting something for nothing, act now!

(And for the record, I offer no apologies for getting "Iran So Far" stuck in your head for the rest of the day.)

To think I thought there would never come a day when I'd agree with Ahmadinejad...
Damn, now the world's gone mad and I find myself laughing with (not at!) Mahmoud old boy himself!
Damn, what next?
Jake running for president?
Well if Wyclef could...

LMFAO!!! Great post, PG! Love that animated gif from the video. Gylls & THE BEARD. Hah!

& great find on that twitter page too. I just went & checked it out & can not believe how funny that dude is. Hahaha, whoever writes all those tweets as him is hysterical. Example: (tweet from 08/23) "What to do? I just don't have the heart to tell Ayatollah that Bieber is a boy."

You go, Bieber, go ahead & hit that!

LOL! I haven't watched this in a long time. I love those SNL shorts and this one is hysterical. Glad Jake agreed to be a part of it

I love that tweet. GET IT, AHMADINEJAD.

The short was awesome. SNL always produced superior products. That and The Lonely Island is always funny.

Lena, OH JAKE HAS RUN FOR PRESIDENT. Alright, so he didn't *know* he was running for president. But Jake does a lot of things under my watch that he doesn't seem to know that he's doing... ;D

I LOVE this digital short. I still remember when it aired...and I didn't watch. A friend of mine e-mailed me the next morning and was like, "DID YOU WATCH SNL LAST NIGHT?!" And I had to hang my head in shame because I hadn't. :( But seriously, three years later, it's still hysterical. :D

Oh shit!!!

Now I feel like killing myself because I'm not American and can't vote for Jake, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

But seriously, that campaign is superior to anything I've ever seen!!
Obama who??

Jake in da White House ASAP

Anonymous,  August 29, 2010 at 6:48 PM

"Jake is currently torturing people in Morocco, a move he hopes will bring awareness to Reese Witherspoon's pregnancy."

"Tomorrow is the day after today (and the day after tomorrow never dies)"

Man, you really rock! In the words of Mr.President - AMAZING!!

KD,  August 29, 2010 at 6:54 PM

That about me section is perhaps the most hilarious thing I've ever read.

Becky Heineke August 29, 2010 at 7:10 PM

The Jake in '08 campaign might be the best thing I have ever come up with. :) It was so epic, and the MySpace profile was a TOTAL spoof of a bunch of the real presidential candidates' profiles. The original version got taken down by MySpace and I had to recreate the whole thing from memory later. It's a testament to how much fun I had the first time around that I wanted to do it a second time. :)

And then we got the woman from the Canadian National Post to even ask Jake about it! Too bad he never pays attention to anything online and had no idea what she was talking about... :(

Yeah, I read the interview :(
"Wow, no, I don't."
How eloquent Jake.
Tsk, you'll have to work harder at your verbal skills for those urgent live Oval Office speeches.

Becky Heineke August 29, 2010 at 9:43 PM

HAHA, Lena! :D I know, when I first heard his reaction I was like, "Come on!" (Though I'm sure he was just stunned into silence at what a wonderful idea it would be for him to run for president. ;D)

Becky Heineke August 30, 2010 at 9:21 AM

Someone sent me the gif a while ago and asked where it came from. I'd been looking for an excuse to post the video ever since! :D

AND YES! I actually DO have book news!!! :) It went to the printer on Friday (!). It'll take a week or so to get everything set up and to get it available to buy, but AS SOON as it's ready, I will let everyone know. The blog is going to undergo some minor cosmetic changes to incorporate book stuff too...I'm so excited!!!! I seriously *cannot wait* for you guys to read it. :D
