I Was Kind of Kidding Before But Now This is Getting Weird

I joked about the running, was curious, but aloof, about all the Prince William gushing, but now I've graduated to genuine suspicion because it seems that Jake, for the first time in the history of his life, is going around telling people he likes us fans (!!!!).

Looks like someone's been delving into his copy of I'm Stalking Jake! between talk show interviews...

So anyway, last week I:

1.  Ate my first McRib sandwich (not the greatest idea I've ever had, but I felt it needed to be done).
2.  Ran the fastest mile of my life.
3.  Learned that my former love interest is traipsing down the aisle into the arms of another and uncharacteristically sat through the requisite celebratory Dateline special.
4.  Excitedly screencapped the iTunes homepage as the Beatles took 4 of the top 10 album spots.
5.  Saw Harry Potter 7 at midnight and YES I DRESSED UP.
6.  Ran 14 miles in one go (different run than item #2).
7.  Some other stuff.

While I was doing all of that (and some other stuff), Jake was:

1.  Earning his living.
2.  Being attacked by birds.

I'm guessing that, in comparison, this week will be somewhat of a letdown for both of us.

Love & Other Drugs comes out in TWO DAYS, and that day is the very day that I will be in the car for many hours, driving to a house where I have no internet, in a town that has no movie theater.  I will do what I can on both fronts, but I fear that my much-anticipated (by me) movie review will be longer coming than it would have been had this movie not been released the day before freaking Thanksgiving.

I anticipate putting up another post before I leave, but I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Vanessa for all of the incredible work she's done for us in the forum lately.  If there was something going on with Jake, she found it and posted it for us.  And if she didn't catch it, Monica did.  Honestly, the two of them are probably the only reason any Jake fans even come to this site anymore, so I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to both of them.  Thank you!!

And while we're on the subject of things to be thankful for, this link has popped up quite a few places across my internet kingdom, and in case you haven't yet seen it, some dude decided to find every shirtless picture of Jake on the internet and compile them into one long list.  I reacted first with skepticism...then grudging admiration...and finally full-on spontaneous clapping in my living room.  Hats off to you Matt Stopera.

And hats off to you, dear reader, if you made it through this strange and schizophrenic post.  The end.

Why'd I have to read the "All Jake, All Shirtless, All the Time" right before I have to go to work!??

Sasha,  November 22, 2010 at 10:30 AM

What a blast to come here and to the forum ... I'm sorry I haven't been here a couple days - life kinda interrupts my daily surfing ... DAMMIT ;)

And to make it even worse, I'm not very talkative at the moment ...

Thx for all the work u guys put in this :D XOXOX

Call Me Mo November 22, 2010 at 10:49 AM

I will be watching Tangled this holiday weekend because my love for Mandy supersedes my love for Jake. In retrospect, it's like I'm also choosing Becky since Mandy is like her twin. Girl power. :P

Vanessa November 22, 2010 at 11:43 AM

^^^^ may I second that "girl power", mo?

& thank you PG, for this post, it made me laugh out loud which was seriously needed, since my Monday has turned into hell which is par for the course lately. Hmmm, Walmart, you got any openings for a greeter???

PG, sorry to hear you won't be seeing LAOD until you get back from your trip, but I will be there bright & early on Wednesday morning if I am not a slave to work that day. Otherwise, it will be Wed. evening. I will most likely also be seeing Tangled myself, I love both Zachary Levi & Mandy & of course all things Disney. May even keep my escape from reality going strong & see Harry Potter again, The Next Three Days, & Megamind. Might as well make it a major long movie going weekend. >;-P

I look forward to your insightful posts.

I don't know when I'll be seeing LAOD. I start a new job on Weds and I'll have to see what kind of schedule I have

OMG! OMG! The Seagull of Malevolence is back - in disguise!

Becky Heineke November 22, 2010 at 2:59 PM

^^^ OMG I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE HIM. Missing the talk shows, not reading the interviews...no, it's not identifying the Seagull of Malevolence that makes me a bad fan today!!! (This is why you are always and forever the Original JW Agent. ;))

YAY for Girl Power! And Mandy! And Thanksgiving! Um, so maybe we'll all just have a L&OD party when I get back and instead of doing our part to help the opening weekend numbers, we'll do our part to keep it going after the holiday rush. And maybe then God will forgive me for not recognizing bird-stalking when I see it...

PG!
I also saw Harry Potter at midnight here in Argentina. My friends and did not dressed up but let's say is spring here and we did wear our House's Scarfs ♥
And finally went to the gym... it was about time to start doing something besides yoga.

KD,  November 22, 2010 at 4:53 PM

OMG PG, I TOO WATCHED HP7 LAST NIGHT AT 7 AND DRESSED UP.

coincidence? I THINK NOT.

KD,  November 22, 2010 at 4:54 PM

Call Me Mo - I couldn't choose between Tangled and LaOD...so I'm watching both of them in the same day! WIMP? I KNOW.

KD,  November 22, 2010 at 8:37 PM

BECKY. GUESS THE FUCK WHAT?

I finally finished your God damned book! (and I say that with the utmost affection)

I'm off to write a review now.

Becky Heineke November 22, 2010 at 10:13 PM

YES to the HP LOVE!!! I feel like I've not lived up to my potential as a fan, though, having only seen it once at this point. I'm pretty sure I saw Half-Blood Prince twice in less than 24 hours... (God, I'm a nerd.)

Also, YAY for gym visits!

Also, YAY for KD's review! (Which I just gushed over in the forum, and "guess the fuck what" totally made me laugh.)

I have used so many exclamation points today. Fun times for a Monday!!

Lola,  November 23, 2010 at 12:17 AM

This is OT, but did anybody hear about the Buffy the vampire slayer TV show remake? I don't know about you guys, but I grew up on that show. They are soooooooooo going to ruin it:(

Vanessa November 23, 2010 at 12:39 AM

Hey Lola, I saw that today too on the net, but I believe they are only remaking the original movie from 1992 with Kristy Swanson. It was written by Whedon too, but he evidently is not involved in this movie remake. I guess we shall see if it will be any good. The original movie was kinda campy, & not really dark & good like the TV series.

KD,  November 23, 2010 at 12:44 AM

Lola - I've heard of it, and while I liked Buffy, I was not hardcore, so I'm impartial to the reboot.

WHAT MAKES ME RAGE MORE IS THE DAMN AWFUL AND TOTALLY UNNECESSARY REBOOT OF SPIDERMAN. I WANT MY SPIDEY 4 WITH CARNAGE, DAMNN IT. AND WHO THE HELL WANTS TO SEE ANDREW GARCIA AS PETER PARKER...and EMMA STONE AS GWEN STACEY? hello, she is clear MJ fodder. WHAT ABSURDITY.

Vanessa November 23, 2010 at 12:51 AM

OMFG, KD! Exactly what I have been bitching about since I heard about that bullshit Spidey reboot. Pissed me off big time. Tobey is Peter Parker, period, end of story. WTF are they thinking??? I do like Andrew Garcia in the 2 movies I have seen him in, but Spiderman he is not. & Sam Raimi not being the director is just WRONG. Well, they will realize their huge error too late when it inevitably flops.

Becky Heineke November 23, 2010 at 9:52 AM

Lola, there are few things in this world that I have loved as much as I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When I saw the news yesterday...THE HORROR. I'd heard the rumor that they were "rebooting" the story about a year ago and had hoped that the widespread negative reaction then had shut this down. Apparently not. :( Buffy without Joss is NOT BUFFY and "redefining" the Buffy brand this soon after the series ended is idiotic. It's pretty much the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my entire life...

...yes, even dumber than the Spider-Man reboot, although that's pretty dumb, too. These studios are out of control in their greed. Ugh, come up with something original for once and/or stop making so damned many movies that the non-franchise stuff gets buried without a chance to succeed.

Such cynicism about the movie industry from me today!! :)

Vanessa November 23, 2010 at 12:19 PM

Wow, I just realized that KD & I both said Andrew Garcia, that is not the guy that is going to be the new Spidey. It is Andrew Garfield, & he is definitely not Spiderman in my opinion, but I do like him. He was great in The Social Network & Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus. But whatthefuckever, they still should not have remade anything without Maguire or Raimi. Big mistake.

Megan November 23, 2010 at 3:08 PM

Joss must have also read "I'm Stalking Jake" by Becky Heineke:

"I can, however, take this time to announce that I'm making a Batman movie. Because there's a franchise that truly needs updating. So look for The Dark Knight Rises Way Earlier Than That Other One And Also More Cheaply And In Toronto, rebooting into a theatre near you."

If that isn't a blatant steal of TDATND, then I don't know what is!

KD,  November 23, 2010 at 9:18 PM

VANESSA - LOL. I think it's his accent. IDK why but it reminds me a Spaniard, and me being the ignorant racist that I am equate that all sexy Spaniards have the last name Garcia. STILL does not deflect that this reboot will be a disaster flop. :\ GOSH DARN.

Becky Heineke November 23, 2010 at 9:18 PM

Meg, I totally just read his letter!! HA! Only he would be so clever and wonderful in responding to such a lame story. Oh, and yeah, add Joss to my long list of fans (CLEARLY!). God, I'm so popular I don't even know what to do with myself!! :D

Nothing Really Matters November 23, 2010 at 9:18 PM

I have no idea when the movie is out here!

I'm getting old, Harry Potter was a lot of excited! I need to watch it again!

Becky Heineke November 23, 2010 at 9:20 PM

BAM BAM BAM. The kids who post together at 9:18 pm are obviously the cool kids. :)
