Potential Mate Pool for Jake Gyllenhaal Just Got a Little Smaller

To be precise, it has now been reduced by TWO (lest I be accused of making any judgments regarding Jake's sexual preferences).  Today (which is already Saturday in Australia!), our very own Sam is being married off to her sweetheart of many, many years, Mark!  (Who has [perhaps wisely] in the past expressed suspicion that I may be a creepy old dude posing as a lithe and winsome twentysomething on the internets.)

Jake was given *ample* opportunity to show up on Sam's doorstep and claim her (or, hell, Mark) for his own, but he did not.

So look lively, stalkers.  I think the stock just rose a little for the rest of us...  *wink*wink*

CONGRATULATIONS SAM AND MARK!!!!

Whoo-hoo! Congrats Sam! (& Mark) I feel terrible, I forgot that Sam is in the future from me, I was totally going to send my best wishes tomorrow, forgetting that little detail. I have a brother that lives in Oz, so you would think I would know better.

Anyway, I'm so sorry to hear Dude didn't show up at the last minute ala Bubble Boy style & whisk you away, but that's OK, I'm sure Mark will fill the bill nicely... >;-) *500 dollah!*

See ya back here & on the forum when you get back from the grand honeymoon! You guys have a wonderful time!

Congratulations, Sam and Mark!

Hey all. Goodluck with the new and improved ISJ site, PG which I have, in the last few days, only just caught up with again. Last night I spent re-visiting JW et als. What a time warp! I was stalking JW when it was up and running; made a few (lame) comments, but you girls always made it an entertaining blog. I can appreciate you expanding ISJ to go in another direction - it keeps the blog intriguing and thought provoking - oh and relevant. Keep it up!

I would like to get a copy of your book PG - the story looks interesting - always wondered what happened - in the end there was too much hoopla over what other groups were doing and trolling going on (that's my POV). I know you girls tried to manage that diplomatically and discreetly. Oh and the missed opportunities of the Gyll - he could have had us on a plate! In my mind the JW blog could have been a great platform for JG and his Fandom, spreading it's love and humour around... freely...(but instead he seemed to go into hibernation mode - oh to be a fly on the Gyllenhaal wall) - any films he did since... oh, let's say including and beyond rendition, were the exact opposite to what I would have expected from him - I couldn't figure it out. Were we invisible all that time? I mean even the best blog on the planet, couldn't plug him into the 'vibe' of what was going on out there in Fan-land??? *shrugs*

Let's hope this latest film isn't a dud too - judging from the trailer, he should have done this film two, three years ago! Anyway I would love to read the book so I will send you an e-mail to place an order for 1 x copy soon (i.e. within the next fortnight).

Congrats and best wishes to Sam and Mark - glad it's you and not me! LOL.

Van in Oz.

vanzmotorbike!!! I love that so many of us are still around (albeit now wiser and infinitely more cynical.) Thank you for your support and encouragement as I transition. :) I don't want to come off like I don't care about Jake but...er...I did feel like the "comeback" was (at first) fake, that *I* was being fake, and I thank you for saying it keeps things interesting to change because I feel the same way! :)

And with everything you said about Jake and Jake Watch (ALL of which I agree with 1000%), I CANNOT WAIT for you to read the book. :D I cover everything you talked about (although in a much wordier way) and then some. Jake Watch was a crazy ride, yet it ultimately could have (and maybe should have) been more than it was...

I, too, have high hopes for Love & Other Drugs, although the momentum isn't nearly where it needs to be right now. :-/ It's actually really weird how little has changed since Jake Watch. I mean, right down to the beard and the lack of movie announcements for the future and the weird hostility between the Jake sites (none of whom ever seem to talk to each other), 2010 could be 2006 all over again. Even this movie...it couldn't be any more different than Zodiac in terms of subject matter, but that movie was so badly promoted and this movie seems to be going through the same thing. Talk about a time warp!

Anyway, yes, please e-mail me whenever about the book and thanks so much for the comment!!!

(And checking the time, Sam and Mark should definitely be Mr. and Mrs. by now. YAY!!! :D)

Lola,  October 15, 2010 at 8:08 PM

Congrats Sam and Mark! I think the whole thing with LAOD not being promoted has to do with its distributer summit. I think they're known for not getting their movies out there enough. I never thought about the hostility between the jake sites, what do you quite mean by that.

Mys T's October 15, 2010 at 8:34 PM

Hi Lola! I can only speak from my own point of view, but there was a bit of too and fro-ing back then; there were behind the scenes goings-on that I don't want to dwell on here in the new blog for a couple of reasons; a) I don't pretend to understand what went on behind the scenes, and b) it was none of my business really. But now it's all said and done and PG is telling her story (and JW was THE best blog of its time)I can't wait to read the book! Cheers.

Becky Heineke October 15, 2010 at 8:51 PM

What vanzmotorbike said! :D (Especially the part about JW being the best ever. HAHA!)

Currently (and I should clarify that I mean this to apply mostly to English-language Jake blogs), none of the sites communicate. You may have noticed that none of us (although I don't know that I would necessarily include myself in that "us" anymore) have links to each other, and many of the readers of each site are intensely loyal to that one site and will never comment, or sometimes even read, elsewhere.

It was worse in the old days, and there were specific reasons for that, and it doesn't help that *all* of the current sites are run by people who were around back then, who all have long histories and bitter memories and generally pretend everyone else doesn't exist...

But for more on the extreme dysfunction of the Jake Gyllenhaal fan world, please see I'm Stalking Jake! by Becky Heineke. ;D

For more on the LAOD fiasco, please see the blog entry that I'm planning on writing sometime next week!! :D Ha!

Jeez, that sounds like it goes real deep and that to know about it i would have hade to been around then. There are 2 jake blogs that i read and this blog. I only comment on one of those Jake blogs and this one.

Sasha,  October 16, 2010 at 8:56 AM

Congrats Sam (and Mark for sweeping her and being lucky Jake didnt make it on time - which is of course a win for me :D ) ....
may it last forever :)

Well, I didn't know about the "ignoring JG blogs" ... and I make it worse in stating "found this at ...." ROFL ... my bad - don't hit me - I just never consider that there might be issues going round ... I have two blogs I luv when it comes to Jake :) and I comment on both if there is anything I'd like to blurb to others

^^^ S4M985, who has the distinctive honor of being the only person to comment on almost every single post. She's a mod in the forum, an original Jake Watch reader, and a long time friend of mine...

Sasha and Lola, no worries on not knowing about any of this! (Or in posting things from other sites. :)) It's mainly between the site owners themselves at this point. This site has the honor of having a lot of new fans, who blissfully missed it all! But (as I think I've said before) on those rare occasions that I check the comments on the other sites, I see A LOT of familiar names over there who haven't bothered to come hang out with us. OH THE DRAMA. ;D

gyllenhaalisgr8 October 16, 2010 at 11:12 AM

Hahaha...I didn't know it was OUR Sam, I thought it was some movie star Jake loved and lost! Sorry for the confusion. Congrats, S4985!

Becky Heineke October 16, 2010 at 11:16 AM

HAHA!! OK, that makes so much sense because I was seriously confused for a minute! :D

She put up a blog entry on MySpace a few months ago telling Jake his time was running out if he wanted to make a move. It was genius. ;D
