James had college that day so the shoot took place late at night in NYC, I think sometime in December. There's a short clip here which explains a little more.
I believe the front cover was shot seperately from the inside sleeve so Jake, Anne, Ryan and James were not part of the larger group.

^^ Jake's a fake person. He's actually a very humanlike animatronic. Hence why he reuses stories and "quotes". He only has so many preprogrammed words and phrases. True story. ;]
I'm really not all that jealous. James Franco is pretentious, Ryan Reynolds seems like a man-child and Jake is a robot (see above).

I noticed that, too. I'm not sure if that was a product of wherever this image came from or if it really looks like and was Photoshopped. Weirdness.
Well these group shots are usually done separately and they're photo-shopped in later, but I don't know if it went to print like that or if you're right wherever you got his off the net they might have tampered with the image to make it look like that. Because I doubt the mag would have printed that issue with that obvious shitty photo-shop mistake. *smooches*
