Source Code Poster: An Analysis by a Seasoned Head Transplanter

No one in the history of the universe has put Jake Gyllenhaal's head on a more varied number of bodies than I have.  Really!  This is something I can legitimately claim as an accomplishment in my life.  A not-even-remotely-close-to-being-comprehensive list of examples:

Etc, ad nauseum.

And as a seasoned head transplanter - and specifically a seasoned head transplanter of Jake Gyllenhaal - something struck me about the recently unveiled Source Code poster:

And that is that even if Jake's head HASN'T been transplanted here, this is still a way worse poster than the first one we saw:

OH SOURCE CODE.  Please be an awesome movie.

HAHA, that is so true! I just commented on the previous post before I saw this. Duncan Jones tweeted a lot yesterday about the poster due to a ton of people ragging him about how crappy it is. He even said this:
"For those asking... No... Source Code does not take place in an exploding Kinkos. lol"

& this:

"Poster works better if you look at it while pressing this button.

I am SO glad the dude has a great sense of humor. I haven't checked today to see if he has said anything else or not. But at least he seems to be in agreement, it is lame. Poster - FAIL.

Yeah, first poster makes it look awesome. New poster makes it look like a Bourne ripoff. Matt Damon!

Ohhh... i actually like it!!!

Why does his head look like it doesn't fit on his body?! And why does he look like he's running through a hall of album covers? I'm just not feeling it...

Btw, bpb, your comment about Jake's head on the other post made me laugh so much...isn't he, like, really self-conscious about the size of his head?? Or did I just make that up? I actually had something written in this post about his head being enormous but then I took it out. Damn.

there are plenty of artists out there that I bet would do an awesome job with the Source Code poster. Why isn't anyone getting them to come out and do one? I hope they come up with something soon.

I loved Jake in all his new roles. I do wish he'd do a guest stint on some TV show

Becky Heineke January 28, 2011 at 6:00 PM

^^^ I would so watch! But he'd probably think it was beneath him or something. :( SIGH, JAKE.

Yeah, I wish someone would hire me to make Jake's movie posters! I would bring a dedication to the job that you'd never find with just a run-of-the-mill movie poster designer. But seriously, it does seem like they kind of dropped the ball on this one, and considering how heavily visuals play in promotion, that makes me sad. We shall see if they come up with something else... :-/

The Bones poster looks legit.

Lazy poster deserves a lazy reaction.

*le me*: upon seeing poster, "...oh." *goes back to surfing the web*

Becky Heineke January 29, 2011 at 12:00 PM

Lazy is such a good word for it...

Linna,  January 29, 2011 at 1:41 PM

Oh! You totally should do the poster! It'd be awesome. When are people in Jake's vicinity gonna realise that when it comes to all things Jake-related YOU SHOULD ALWAYS do the job, because when it comes to Jake-stuff (and granted, A LOT of other stuff) you're the best fucking shit there is. How has that escaped them?

And you should (obviously) get paid accordingly.

Becky Heineke January 30, 2011 at 6:56 PM

^^^ THIS! Especially the being paid part!! And with the money, I could hire you as my publicist because you're making me sound so damned capable. ;D

Linna,  February 12, 2011 at 2:21 PM

I would gracefully accept that job offer ;)

It’s funny how many articles and news come out on a weekly basis.
I also strongly recommend to watch Source Code online, it's awesome movie, rating A+
